Final External Evaluation of the Intervention “Nô pui asas pa disinvolvimentu promotion of the poultry sector in Guinea-Bissau - II phase”
The "Ianda Guinea! Chickens" Intervention aimed to improve the poultry value chain in Guinea-Bissau, facing economic challenges and dependence on imports. The project focused on increasing poultry farmers' income, providing inputs and professionalizing the sector. It was coordinated by several entities, such as Mani Tese, Asas do Socorro, IMVF and UNITÓ, which played different roles, such as feed production, development of poultry farmers and creation of courses.
The evaluation followed a methodology structured into three phases: preparation, fieldwork and reports. The results showed significant growth for some operators, such as CEDAVES, while others, such as Piu Piu Awara, faced difficulties. Although the intervention had positive impacts, especially on vaccination campaigns and health training, long-term sustainability was considered a concern. It is recommended to focus on fewer regions or urban centers and strengthen local capacities to optimize impacts and reduce dependence on external financing.
